Trip Report: Spearhead Traverse

Located in British Columbia’s Garibaldi sector of the Coast Mountains, there lies a small subrange called the Spearhead Range. This 32-square mile mountain range is densely packed with dozens of glaciers, peaks, and passes, along with 2 major ski resorts: Whistler and Blackcomb.

The Spearhead Traverse is a classic adventure connecting the Whistler and Blackcomb resorts via the horseshoe-shaped Spearhead Range. Due to the amount of glaciers, ski lines, and peak-bagging opportunities that exist here, there are nearly unlimited variations to this traverse.

Adrien Regglebruge, Owen Desroches, Sam Cox, and I found ourselves in Pemberton, BC during our Spring Break of 2023. After skiing Joffre Peak, we wanted to take advantage of the new snow, and headed to Whistler. Our traverse began at the Blackcomb Glacier, the first of 12 glaciers that we would ski on our two-day route back to the Whistler resort boundary.

This land is the traditional land of the Lil’wat First Nation and Squamish Tribe.
